I TOTALLY want to see these two movies this weekend:

Prometheus | A clue to mankind’s origins leads a team of explorers to deep space, where they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race. | See the preview

Snow White and the Huntsman | In a twist to the fairy tale, the Huntsman ordered to take Snow White into the woods to be killed winds up becoming her protector and mentor in a quest to vanquish the Evil Queen. | See the preview

But because it is the Open Roads: New Italian Cinema festival, I will be spending my time in theaters watching Italian movies. (Tonight’s is Magnifica Presenza.)

I actually heard this was sort of funny…

Men in Black III | Agent J travels in time to MIB’s early years in the 1960s, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history. | See the preview

And I heard wonderful things about The Avengers. FROM GIRLS! NOT JUST FOR BOYS!

I would say no no no no no to this, unless you want to make fun of every line of dialogue Rihanna says. Which would be fun.

Battleship | Hasbro’s strategic board game gets a sci-fi facelift with this Universal Pictures production from director Peter Berg. The action will pit a small fleet of naval ships against an alien force intent on enriching Earth’s valuable assets to ensure their survival. Taylor Kitsch (Wolverine) and True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard star alongside Liam Neeson, Rihanna, and Brooklyn Decker. | See the preview

If I had time, I’d see these:

The Dictator | The heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed. | See the preview

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel | Some British retirees (Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy) decide to outsource their retirement to exotic — and less expensive — India. Lured by advertisements for the newly restored Marigold Hotel and imagining a life of leisure in lush surroundings, they arrive and find that the Marigold is actually a shell of its former self. Though their new home is not quite what they had imagined, the retirees find that life and love can begin again when they let go of their pasts. | See the preview

I saw this, and it was awful. But I enjoyed it because I love scary movies NO MATTER WHAT:

Chernobyl Diaries | The film follows a group of six young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an “extreme tour” guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone. | See the preview

And I’m dying to see this:

Moonrise Kingdom | Director/co-writer Wes Anderson teams with screenwriter Roman Coppola for this period comedy-drama set in the 1960s, in which a pair of young lovers (Jared Gilmanand Kara Hayward) from an island off the New England coast head for the hills and throw their small town into a frenzy. Bruce Willis co-stars with Bill Murray, Edward Norton, and Frances McDormand. | See the preview
